Hi, I’m Paula da Silva. I’m a Clinical Intern who works with children and teens who have ongoing challenges with depression and anxiety. My goal is to help you stop and start encouraging you to see healing and transformation.
I hold a Bachelors in Psychology from University of Maryland and I am currently completing a Masters in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling with an expected graduation date of December 2021.
My Journey To Becoming a Therapist
My personal growth from life struggles and obstacles allows me to relate with my clients on a deeper level.
I have experienced first hand the beauty and freedom of breaking through and overcoming various struggle. I don’t think there is anything more liberating than being able to confidently walk towards your fullest potential. I hold a burning passion to help my clients reach this point in their lives as well, which will take a good support system in order to achieve it – which is where I come in.
Being a therapist is such an honor. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and seeing them finally getting the life they desire.
The most rewarding thing about being a Therapist is seeing a person walk away lighter, more free, and excited about their life, which is why I am committed to encouraging you to see healing and transformation.
I have compassion for people and bring heart and warmth to sessions.
I have a natural ability to:
- Reflect people’s thoughts back to them
- Help people feel comfortable
- Sense what other people may be thinking and feeling
- Inspire hope for getting better
People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can help people feel heard and understood which helps people feel seen and start to heal.
Our Sessions Are Focused On You
In our sessions I will provide you with the a safe and comfortable space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and goals.
This feeling of comfort and safety will allow you to express what you’re feeling and open up while knowing that you are understood and heard.
It’s very important to me to provide a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and check in on your progress as we go. I firmly believe that there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to Counseling, which is why every session will be unique to you, and created to fit your specific needs and concerns.
As a Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies
- I believe that you deserve to feel better
- I believe that you are worthy of love and care
- I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated
- I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work
- I believe that people underestimate their ability to change. It’s possible to change. It’s possible to enjoy life again.
