Experiencing irrational or overwhelming worries?
Anxiety Therapy can help.
Do you find yourself excessively worrying?
Are you overwhelmed by irrational fears that you can’t seem to shake?
Do you think bad things will happen if things aren’t done in a particular way?
Do you experience panic attacks, but don’t know what’s causing them?
Do you go out of your way to avoid situations because they make you anxious?
Living with anxiety can be overwhelming and frustrating. No matter how hard you try, you can’t help but constantly worry, even about small things that you know you have no reason to worry about. You find yourself sweating profusely or your heart pounding in stressful situations or an overwhelming situation. Sometimes, the cause of anxiety is easy to identify, but there are times when you don’t know what’s causing it, which can make it even harder to manage.
Anxiety can cause you to stop you from achieving your goals, having fun, and just living life, out of fear that something might happen or the emotions that may take over. While your feelings may seem irrational they are valid.
You Are Not Alone
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, anxiety affects 40 million adults in the US. There are different types of anxiety including:

Panic disorder
A disorder that consists of having sudden and repeated attacks of fear that last for several minutes or longer
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
A mental disorder in which a person feels the need to perform certain routines repeatedly (compulsions) or has certain thoughts repeatedly (obsessions).
Phobias
A phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction that can cause you to experience a deep sense of dread, and sometimes panic.
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
GAD is characterized by persistent and excessive worry about a number of different things.
Social anxiety disorder (SAD)
Social anxiety disorder is an intense fear of being watched and judged by others. You constantly worry about what people will think or say about you.
Depending on the type of anxiety you have symptoms can show up in a variety of ways from something as minute as sweaty palms or a stomach ache to extremes like difficulty breathing, tightness in your chest, and panic attacks. Anxiety can also stem from various situations and circumstances, so don’t compare yourself to others. Your anxiety could appear when you think of having to be a part of a crowd, when you think about achieving your goals, or you could be triggered and not even know why.
The good news, however, is that with Anxiety Therapy you can learn to manage and even overcome your anxiety. Worry and fear does not have to control your life.
Anxiety Treatment Can Help You Take Control Back
Here at Friends In Transition Counseling, we have counselors who are specialized in helping you manage anxiety. Our main goal when helping individuals with anxiety is to get your sense of confidence back. Anxiety often leaves us feeling out of control. We help you identify the triggers and to develop strategies to actively reduce the impact they have on your life.
We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) to help you identify how your thoughts influence your actions, feelings and behaviors. We might also incorporate mindfulness to help you manage the feelings of stress that might emerge.
But You May Still Have Questions About Anxiety Treatment
I want help, but just thinking of Anxiety Treatment makes me anxious.
We understand that the thought of coming in and being vulnerable can be intimidating, but we’re on your side. At Friends In Transition Counseling, we want to work with you to make sure you feel comfortable, which is why we offer a consultation before we start any sessions. We want to take the time to learn more about you, what you feel (and don’t feel) comfortable with, and time to get to know us, to make sure you get the most out of your sessions. We also currently have online therapy, if coming to an office is too much to start off with.
What if therapy doesn’t get rid of my anxiety.
The goal of therapy isn’t to get rid of your anxiety, but to help you learn where it stems from and how you can manage it. We want to help you learn to live your life to its fullest potential without the fear of anxiety holding you back.
You Can Overcome Your Anxiety
