Art Therapist and Counselor

As an Art Therapist and Counselor, I bring the healing power of creativity and the effectiveness of evidence-based techniques together in the service of recovery, growth, and transformation.

I provide a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, practical skills, and opportunities for creative and authentic self-expression. My goal is to help those who have experienced upsetting or traumatic life events move forward, and assist people struggling with life challenges to identify and overcome barriers to growth and fulfillment.

I value your need for safety, confidentiality, and respect, and believe there are many avenues to well-being. Thus, I will follow your lead while supporting your process. My theoretical orientation is a unique blend of transpersonal and cognitive approaches – I view spirituality and creativity as essential elements of health and wholeness, and employ practical techniques drawn from conventional research-based treatments.

I have a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy / Counseling, and am a nationally certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and Counselor (NCC). I am also credentialed as an Art Therapy Certified Supervisor (ATCS) and Approved Counseling Supervisor (ACS).

What is Art Therapy?

Creativity is a powerful and universal vehicle for self-expression and communication. Art therapy uses images, symbols and the creative process to tell our stories, express ourselves authentically, develop insight, release emotional turmoil, experience empowerment, promote self-efficacy, and connect with our inner world.

Words are often insufficient to convey complex emotions, process sensory memories associated with trauma, or describe our experiences, thoughts, feelings, and relationships.

By drawing, painting, scribbling, sculpting, and other forms of expressive arts (such as journaling, music, poetry, and movement), an adult or child can communicate, process, and integrate such experiences.
